A Three Day Indian Wedding in Arlington, Texas

Sumi and Jesal’s wedding weekend was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and tradition. These photos capture the essence of their celebrations — the colors, the smiles, and the special connections shared with family and friends throughout the weekend.

Pre-wedding session

The wedding festivities began with a touch of magic at the serene Mandalay Canal Walk in Las Colinas. Sumi arrived in a stunning red saree, glowing against the quiet canals, and we spent the evening walking, laughing, and snapping portraits that felt both intimate and joyful.

Mehndi

Mehndi night is one of the most vibrant and heartwarming pre-wedding traditions in South Asian culture. It’s a time when family and friends come together to celebrate love, artistry, and heritage and Jesal & Sumi’s celebration at their Lewisville home was no exception. Guests arrived to a cozy, festive setting filled with warm lighting, colorful fabrics, and the faint aroma of chai and sweets. The centerpiece of the evening was the mehndi application, intricate henna designs drawn on hands and arms, symbolizing beauty, joy, and blessings for the couple’s future. As the henna artists worked their magic, the room buzzed with conversation, teasing, and laughter. Each design told its own story, delicate floral patterns, paisley swirls, and hidden initials that only the bride and groom would recognize. Beyond the henna, the night was about connection: aunties sharing wedding advice, cousins snapping selfies, and children twirling in their bright outfits. Music floated through the air, blending traditional melodies with upbeat dance tracks that tempted more than a few guests to get up and move.

Haldi

The day began bathed in golden sunlight, the perfect start to Sumi and Jesal’s Haldi — a cherished pre-wedding ritual also known as gaye holud or the turmeric ceremony. Excitement filled the air as family and friends gathered in the Lower Rose Garden at the Fort Worth Botanical Garden. The couple’s blue-and-white outfits stood out beautifully against the lush greenery, while the guests added a burst of sunshine in coordinated yellows. Surrounded by loved ones, Sumi and Jesal were lovingly adorned with turmeric paste, a gesture meant to bless them with beauty, prosperity, and protection for their married life ahead. With golden turmeric, vibrant attire, and blooming roses all around, the scene felt like a living, radiant painting.

Sangeet

After a short break, the celebrations gracefully transitioned into the evening’s Sangeet. The CR Smith Museum’s hangar had been transformed into a red-and-gold dream, setting the stage for heartfelt singing, lively garba, and energetic dance performances that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. With DJ Ajay spinning Bollywood beats and a feast featuring everything from momos and pani puri to jalebi with rabdi, the night felt straight out of a Bollywood movie. The dance floor stayed alive until the very end, marking yet another unforgettable chapter in Sumi and Jesal’s wedding week.

Wedding day

Finally, the big day at Live! by Loews in Arlington was everything you dream of in a wedding: first looks filled with emotion, a lively baraat with Jesal arriving in style, a ceremony surrounded by family and beautiful florals, and a reception that sparkled like a glamorous speakeasy. Between the heartfelt speeches, choreographed dances, and open dance floor, every moment was a memory I was honored to capture. Sumi and Jesal’s weekend wasn’t just about events, it was about family, laughter, and the joy of two people surrounded by love. Being behind the camera for it all was an absolute privilege.
